These barriers absorb the landslide pressure with its structure including high-strength steel nets and brake systems scattering the energy. They are installed on slopes subjected to superficial landslide for the protection against torrential debris flows, the barriers are installed in torrents and gullies to capture granular materials such as alluvia, rocks, tree trunks and other shifted materials.
With the help of this application, the materials such as rock, tree and soil are caught, sections of main stream bed are narrowed, blockage of engineering structures is prevented and flood probabbility is minimized. They have been sized to absorb the high pressures of mudslides and debris flows.
Energy-Damping Rock Barrier
These barriers are used in urban areas, roads, mining sites and in industurial sites against rock falls. Also they are effective and permenant solutions for high slopes and the places where it is not possible to take temporary precautions.
Rockfall barriers are located on the surface of the side or slope in consideration of the falling speed of rocks, their splashing height, the way they will follow towards the transition zones and impact zones. These rockfall barriers can absorbe energies from 250 Kj to 10.000 Kj. In these rock barriers, EOTA and ETAG 027 standards must be regarded.
In places where bulky rock masses may fall and/or in places where there is not enough space to install a rockfall barrier at the foot of the slope, the deflector net provides high capacity protection at a reasonable cost and requiring minimal maintenance.
The falling masses are trapped in the catchment net and guided through the nets. The inertia generated by the mass of these nets has a braking effect that guides the boulders down to the bottom of the cliffs. The speed and energy of the falling boulders is hence significantly reduced. This solution is always combined with another type of device such as a rockfall catch fence at the foot of the slope (ditch), rock screen or gabion.
